MATTY-VILLE

By Matthew Pak

Matty-Ville is a proposal to pixel farm in American suburbia within the rebranding of the American dream. Pixel farming involves the use of robots to manage and harvest crops. It brings a higher resolution of engagement with plants. This is the difference between planting monocrops in rows for the convenience of agricultural equipment versus enabling plants to be in varied/mosaic relation. Such a relation accommodates the dialogic system of plants and their neighbors (neighbors such as insects, bugs, and mycelium). This preserved system reduces the need for pest control and fertilizers as more of it is allowed to be naturally occurring through biodiversity.
