Join us for a tour of the (W)rapper, with Dolan Daggett & Eric McNevin!
This tour will take place on October 27th, 2023 at 1 PM – 2:30 PM, at 5790 W Jefferson Blvd.
Eric Owen Moss Architects has unveiled (W)rapper, a groundbreaking 235-feet tall office tower in Central Los Angeles, marking a significant milestone in a 35-year revitalization initiative for the former industrial region of Los Angeles and Culver City. Commissioned by Samitaur Constructs, the tower is strategically situated alongside the Expo Line light rail, endorsing the City’s vision to escalate urban density along key transit corridors.
Diverging from traditional high-rise designs characterized by modular grid columns, (W)rapper’s architecture is defined by its network of curvilinear bands enveloping the building, offering a distinctive structural integrity drawn from multiple geometric focal points. The building incorporates a base-isolated structure, a pioneering feature in U.S. commercial high-rises. This innovative design ensures unparalleled seismic resilience, making it capable of withstanding significant earthquakes and ensuring immediate post-event reoccupancy. This durability not only underscores its advanced safety but also represents a commendable sustainability metric by significantly reducing its long-term carbon footprint.
(W)rapper stands as a beacon of sustainable urban development. It encourages the use of public transportation through reduced parking provisions and ensures direct pedestrian connectivity from the train. Its building envelope meets the rigorous criteria of an elevated LEED Silver sustainability rating. (W)rapper is just the inaugural step in a broader vision. Two additional towers have received the green light, and discussions are underway regarding pedestrian bridges, fortifying the region’s identity as a nexus of innovation and sustainability.
