Bigger than a Street, Smaller Than A City
Housing No.8
MOS
Designed by international architects for Mexico’s nine climatic zones and built with expansion in mind, each of the Housing Laboratory’s 32 housing prototypes varyingly rethinks fundamentals of spatial organization, environment, construction, and material. Set within a grove of trees, each house is oriented to maximize its solar performance. These prototypes, circular planters for gardening, a brick water tower for on-site water storage, and playgrounds for residents and the wider community are all informally arranged across the sloped site to produce a variety of spaces through an economy of elements.
