Textile Landscapes: The Material Future of Tulare Lake

By Anna Avdalyan

“Textile Landscapes: The Material Future of Tulare Lake” is a material research project that examines sustainable cotton cultivation in the Central Valley by exploring its historical agricultural role at the Tulare Lake bed. The project assesses the environmental impacts of large-scale unsustainable farming and water management and advocates for a material ecology approach that utilizes cotton waste in biocomposites. This strategy aims to enhance lake restoration practices and integrate regenerative agriculture to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable environmental future.
