The Morning After
June 10, 2018 12:00 am
The LA Forum for Architecture & Urban Design is pleased to present “The Morning After,” a critical roundtable discussion of the prior evening’s event, DOPIUM.LA D/MENS/IONS, a “multi-sensory art experience exploring community, creativity, & culture.” Featuring curators, designers, and artists involved with DOPIUM.LA, as well as local voices from the design disciplines, the conversation will center around the notion of temporality and impermanence in the production and exhibition of works of design and art, as well as in how they manifest both as material reality and cultural phenomenon.
“One-night-only” has emerged as a defining ethos for framing the work of a sizable constituency of young architects and artists in Los Angeles and beyond (starting with the genre-defining “One-Night-Stand for Art & Architecture” events at disused LA motels) – this conversation seeks to interrogate this premise and the work produced under its purview, as well as consider its spatial implications and potential to activate eccentric urban spaces.
True to celebratory Sunday-morning form, Mimosas will be served.
