ECHO PARK | SUNDAY, JULY 18th | 11AM
Hidden staircases, tree covered walkways above Echo Park, the Angelus Temple and unique LA centric poetry from Mike the PoeT lead the kick off of A+D’s Summer Urban Hike series.


MACARTHUR PARK | SUNDAY, AUGUST 1st | 11AM

Urban Hikers enjoyed a day of sunshine as they resdiscovered some of LA’s Historic hotspots. The Urban Hike included a
tour of the MacArthur Park Bandshell hosted by the Levitt Pavilion, a stop at the Park Plaza Hotel and a visit to the American Cement Building offices of the Architects- Graft Lab.

RIVER | SUNDAY, AUGUST 15th | 11AM
Special guest Mia Lehrer, Landscape Architect for the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan shared the exciting future ahead for the LA River. Hikers then got a buit wet as they waded through the river and passed beneath the historic bridges of Merrill Butler while listening to the history of the LA River.

URBAN HIKES, FORGOTTEN LA is a unique series of tours devoted to the exploration and celebration of sometimes forgotten parts of Los Angeles. URBAN HIKES provides a unique and enriching view into neighborhoods such as Little Tokyo, Leimert Park, MacArthur Park, Korea Town, the Downtown Historic Core, Boyle Heights and many more.

Los Angeles poet and native Mike Sonksen, aka ‘Mike The Poet’, performs his poems live and loud while providing a cultural, historical, and architectural tour exploring the forgotten and hidden gems in our City of Angels.

Mike Sonksen:  Mike is widely acclaimed for his live performances, contributions to international publications and legendary city tours with A+D Museum, Red Line and The Museum of Neon Art. Poet, journalist, historian, tour guide, and teacher, Mike is published in Citybeat, O.C. Weekly, New Angeles, L.A. Weekly & many others. A third generation L.A. native, Mike graduated from UCLA in 1997. His book I AM ALIVE IN LOS ANGELES! has been added to the curriculum of several universities and receives rave reviews.
