Director of Special Projects
 Farooq Ameen is the Founding Director of the International Center for Urban Studies. The Center’s Urban Interventions Program has conducted workshops jointly with SCI-Arc, ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), and the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau, Woodbury University and the Technical-University, Brandenburg. Ameen is a recipient of numerous awards and commendations for a diversity of architecture and urban design projects. These include master planning for cities and housing projects, design of institutional buildings, schools and residential projects and urban design plans for historic districts and inner cities in California, Germany and India.
Ameen is a registered architect in California and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). His works, writings, and exhibitions have been widely published in journals, including Architectural Record and Architecture Week. Ameen has lectured at Columbia University, the Bauhaus, BDA (the German Institute of Architects) and the AIA / Los Angeles Chapter and has several publications on urban design and architecture. Ameen received his bachelor of architecture degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and his master of architecture degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has also participated as adjunct faculty at SCI-Arc, Woodbury University, and the Bauhaus in Germany.
