Dan Meis, AIA PDF Print E-mail
ImageMeis is an internationally renowned architect recognized for his award-winning designs of large-scale civic and commercial developments, including Staples Center in Los Angeles. Meis’ position with the largest Los Angeles-based architectural firm grew out of a year-long relationship between Nadel Architects and Meis’ design studio, Turner Meis + Associates. In 2004, the two firms collaborated on several projects.

Meis began his career in the Chicago office of Murphy/Jahn. Mentored by Helmut Jahn, Meis worked on several award-winning office towers in Chicago; New York; Frankfurt, Germany; and Durban, South Africa. He continued his career at Ellerbe Becket where, in 1994, he rose to prominence by winning the international design competition for the $750 million Saitama Arena in Japan. In 1995, he joined the Los Angeles office of NBBJ as Design Partner, where he would garner several more awards for his designs of sports, entertainment, and convention facilities. His design of Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, was the first NFL stadium to win an AIA design award. Named to Time Magazine’s Top 100 innovators in the world of sports, his work also has twice been awarded the prestigious Business Week/Architectural Record Award recognizing the value of design to a client’s business.
