President
Stephen H. Kanner FAIA, is President of Kanner Architects.
With a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of California
Berkeley, Stephen became a licensed architect in the State of
California in 1982. Prior to joining his father’s firm, Kanner
Architects, he worked for the Cambridge Seven in Boston and
subsequently for Skidmore, Owings and Merill in Los Angeles. In 1998
he received his fellowship into the American Institute of Architects.
Stephen’s design expertise is widely acknowledged and respected. He
has been a guest lecturer and critic at several universities throughout
the United States and internationally. Stephen was elected
Vice-President of the Southern California Chapter of the American
Institute of Architects for 2004 and will be President in 2005.
Stephen has an extensive history of public service in the greater Los
Angeles area, serving on architectural review boards for both the City
and County of Los Angeles. He is past Chairman of the Westwood Design
Review Board, a former member of the Pacific Palisades Design Review
Board, and a member of the Marina Del Rey Design Review Board, and a
Board Member of the Westwood Business Improvement District. He is
currently serving on the Mayor’s Cultural Affairs Design Advisory
Panel.
